A pensioner was taken to hospital after falling 20m down a steep slope in Adlington, Chorley during a walk.
Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team (BPMRT) were called to Adlington to help rescue the 79-year-old on the evening of Monday, October 17.
The man suffered fractures to his should and arm and was transported to a land ambulance in a full body splint before being taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
Volunteers and paramedics from the North West Air Ambulance were the first ones to arrive at the scene.
A spokesperson for the BPMRT said: “Monday evening saw the team called to Adlington to a 79 year old male who had taken a 20m tumble down a steep slope.
"He suffered a suspected fracture to his shoulder and arm in the fall.
“The North West Air Ambulance were first on scene and dealt with the gentleman's injuries.
“Due to the failing light the aircraft had to depart leaving the crew behind to continue the treatment alongside the team including placing him in a Blizzard Protection Systems blanket to protect him from the environment.
“After pain killing medications were given he was then placed in a vacuum mattress (a full body splint) before being stretchered to a waiting land ambulance.
“We wish him a speedy recovery.”
