THE Real Lancashire Black Pudding Company has earned another title at a national compet-ition.

The team were judged Supreme British Champion Black Pudding Makers' in the National Supreme Products contest at the NEC, Birmingham, on Sunday.

Proprietor Andy Holt, who has run the Haslingden business for 15 years, said: "We submitted three puddings - white, black and a traditional one and they were judged on texture, consistency, taste and appearance.

"We haven't changed the recipe since 1879 so we must be doing something right!

"We've already won 156 awards from all over Britain and Europe."

His company also won two gold medals and a silver medal in a British Champions competition in Holland the same weekend.

In the past few months the firm has been voted British Champions in France, Belgium, and Holland.

Andy said: "Although awards given in foreign competitions are very prestigious they are not as important to me as the British Championship.

"In foreign comp-etitions we are up against stiff opposition but our products are not judged like for like' -just on their own merits and so I was overjoyed when I was informed about the award."
