TWO men appeared before magistrates accused of child sex allegations in Pendle.

Bertram Hughes, 49, is charged with one count of indecenct assault at Barnoldswick between December 1996 and 1997. He did not enter a plea.

Alan Hughes, 44, faces six charges of indecent assault on a girl under 16 and one of gross indecency, said to have taken place in Barnoldswick and Earby between December 1993 and December 1998.

The defendant did not indicate pleas.

The bench decided the allegations should be heard at the crown court and the pair were bailed until May 6, for committal proceedings.

Bertram Hughes must live at Salterforth Caravan Site while Alan Hughes at an address in Anglesey.

He must also report to the police station every Monday between noon and 2pm.
