THE Lancashire Telegraph was nominated in five of the seven possible categories in the Newsquest Editorial Awards 2008 - more than any other title.
Chief photographer Clive Lawrence produced an outstanding portfolio to take the top award in his section becoming the Photographer of the Year.
It was the second time Clive has taken the major photographic award.
The paper also produced two runners-up: Andy Neild, a past three-time winner, was Highly Commended in the Sports Reporter of the Year category as was chief news reporter David Watkinson in the Journalist of the Year category.
Samrana Hussain was Commended in the Trainee Reporter of the Year category.
And our website, lancashiretelegraph.co.uk, was also Commended.
This year's record number of individual shortlistings comes a year after the Telegraph was crowned Newsquest Daily Newspaper of the Year.
Editor Kevin Young said: "Newsquest is one of the largest groups in the UK with more than 300 titles.
"To get five nominations from a possible seven categories is an outstanding achievement for our journalists."
