THREE East Lancashire groups are to benefit from the latest Big Lottery Fund giveaway.

Blackburn's Enterprise4all, the Burnley Lane Action Group Youth Group, and the Burnley and Pendle Cheerleaders have all been given grants in the Awards for All scheme, which gives boosts of between £300 and £10,000 to grassroots organisations and community groups.

Enterprise4all was given £9,436 to further its advice and information service for start-up businesses, while the BLAG youth club was awarded £4,750 to continue its work with teenagers in the community.

Burnley and Pendle Cheerleading was given £5,000, which will be spent on improving gymnastic flooring for the practise area.

Group leader Michelle Williamson said: "We're totally thrilled. It took us a while to get the bid approved, but we really want to get the floor up to standard so the girls can practice properly -we've only had mats so far.

"It means a lot to the girls -we're going to have an open day to celebrate."

A total of £913,949 has been given out in the North West in the latest round of grants from the Lottery, Michelle McNamee, head of the north west region for the Big Lottery Fund, said: "A tremendous range of vital projects in the community will be delighted to get the funding they so desperately need, and countless people in the north west will reap the rewards."
