BUSINESSES in a borough can now apply for more coronavirus support cash from the council.

The scheme is open to firms in Hyndburn hit by restrictions on trading since Tuesday January 5.

The Council has now launched the seventh phase of the Additional Restriction Grant scheme.

It provides financial assistance and support to businesses which are allowed to remain open and trading during the period of national restrictions but have been severely impacted together with businesses that are required to close that do not have their own business rates assessment.

The scheme is open to businesses that are both liable to pay business rates and appear in the Valuation Rating list as well as businesses that do not meet this criteria.

Cllr Miles Parkinson, the leader of Hyndburn Council, said: “In the last twelve months, we have issued more than £37million in additional funding and Hyndburn has been recognised nationally for leading the country in its efforts to support vital local businesses.

"It is important that we continue to support our businesses throughout these difficult times ensuring funds are allocated to those businesses that have been forced to stop trading, or who have suffered financially under the Government’s imposed restrictions.

"Applications for the Additional Restriction Grant scheme open from Tuesday May 18 and closes on Tuesday June 1. All the information needed to apply is on our website with the online form available 24 hours a day”.
