Coronavirus infection rates are decreasing in four out of the nine areas of Hyndburn but increasing in the remaining five.

Analysis of the Government’s Covid-19 infections map shows that the rate has increased in Rishton, Broadfield and Knuzden, Accrington South East, Church and Accrington West.

Of the places with an increased rate, Accrington West recorded the biggest rise, after 118 new cases in the seven days to January 17 brought the area’s figure to 926 cases per 100,000 people.

Oswaldtwistle has the lowest infection rate in the whole borough, with a rate of 589.3 per 100,000 people.
