Another 12 people have died with Covid-19 at hospitals across Lancashire.

According to the latest data from NHS England, a further two Covid-related deaths were reported at hospitals in Blackpool as the Trust's total rose to 590 in the last 24 hours.

At facilities within East Lancashire, another three Covid-related deaths were recorded, bringing the death toll to 701.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals recorded another two Covid-related deaths taking the tally there to 533 since the start of the pandemic. 

Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals reported one death and Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust another four, bringing the total number of people to have died with Covid-19 in those areas to 290 and 407 respectively.

Across the county, 2,521 people have now lost their lives since March 2020 after testing positive for Covid-19. 

Covid-19 is recorded on a person's death certificate if they are known to have tested positive for the virus in the 28 days before they died. 

Of the 55,072 Covid-related deaths recorded across England since the start of the pandemic, 20,790 were aged between 60 and 79, and 30,213 were over the age of 80.
