A banned driver has been told he will need to attend court after police caught him driving with a trailer full of unsecured bricks on a busy stretch of motorway.

The driver, who was towing a trailer on the M61 northbound was stopped by officers on Friday evening.

Police found the trailer contained dozens of loose housebricks which officers have described as being 'an accident waiting to happen'.

In a twist of fate for the driver, police also discovered he was uninsured and had been banned from driving until 2022.

Lancashire Telegraph:

His vehicle was seized and he will now be summonsed to court to explain his actions.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Motorist stopped by ME64 on the access to the M61 NB for towing a trailer that had loose house bricks in it which was an accident waiting to happen.

"Driver was also found to be uninsured and disqualified until 2022.

"Seized and driver sent off to court."
