THE DAILY number of coronavirus cases has dropped to the lowest point in almost two months.

Just 67 new cases of covid-19 were confirmed across the borough, bringing the total number of cases to 14,452.

This is the smallest daily increase in cases since October 2, when 64 new cases were reported.

In the week to October 2, the rolling seven-day rate of infections sat at 247.6, after 712 new cases were reported in that week.

The latest figures, for the seven days up to November 18, have started to slip to similar levels – with the weekly infection rate dropping to the lowest point in a month.

Just over 1,000 new cases were confirmed in the week to November 18, for a rate of 359.2 – down from the 468.1 new infections per 100,000 people reported the week before.

The last time infection rates dropped below 400 was in the middle of October, with the current rate at its lowest point since October 13.
