OVER 800 people have tested positive for the coronavirus over the weekend, the latest Government data has revealed.
Blackburn with Darwen saw the largest increase in new cases by far, with 260 covid-19 infections identified in the borough on Saturday and Sunday.
There have now been a total of 5,390 infections in the area since the start of the outbreak.
Rossendale's total rose by 156, with a total of 1,852 cases now recorded in the borough.
Burnley saw the third highest increase over the weekend, with 63 people announced as having caught the virus on Saturday and 90 on Sunday bringing the area's total up by 153 to 2,923.
Hyndburn recorded a total of 122 new cases - 55 on Saturday and 67 on Sunday - bringing the area's total number of infections to 2,117 since the outbreak began.
Pendle has now recorded a total of 2,856 cases after a further 117 infections were detected over the weekend.
The Ribble Valley recorded the fewest new cases with 75 bringing the borough's area to 1,555.
