CONGESTION is building after a crash off of St Peters Way left a car on its side.
Two vehicles were involved in a collision on Lower Bridgeman Street, at the top of the northbound exit of the A666 at Bradford Street.
One of the cars was left on its side, facing the wrong way down Lower Bridgeman Street.
The other had been damaged, with debris spotted around the vehicle.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 3.30pm, but discovered only minor injuries from those involved.
A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Lower Bridgeman Street at 3.34pm to reports of a two vehicle road traffic accident.
"We sent resources and we assessed someone on scene but there were only minor injuries so no one was taken to hospital."
Traffic started to build shortly after 3.30pm, with congestion affecting Bridgeman Place and Bradford Street, whilst the A666 sees queues build on the approach to the scene.
Congestion is still affecting the area.
