RAIL services have resumed after a person was hit by a train in Trafford earlier today.
Transport police say the incident took place close to Chassen Road station just before 10am
An official said there were no suspicious circumstances and a file has been opened for the coroner.
Rail services were halted between Warrington Central and Manchester Oxford Road while the emergency services were in attendance.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "British Transport Police were called at 9.52am today to an area of railway near Urmston station following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
"Officers attended but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
