ONE of Blackburn’s main roads will be closed over the weekend.

Barbara Castle Way will be closed to traffic in both directions from 6am to 6pm on both Saturday and Saturday while milling and paving works are carried out.

The dual carriageway closure will be from Limbrick to ‘Buzz Bingo’ near the A666 and Penny Street junction.

Westbound, the diversion will include Ainsworth Street, Richmond Terrace, Exchange Street, King William Street and Preston New Road which will then lead back on to Barbara Castle Way.

The diversion - through the town centre - is the shortest and has been used previously.

Eastbound, the diversion will include Limbrick, Randall Street, Whalley Range, Brookhouse Lane and A666 Larkhill which will also lead back on to Barbara Castle Way.

This diversion is the longer of the two and includes residential streets along with small businesses and retailers.

Blackburn with Darwen Council confirmed that they would be managing traffic and the works on the dual carriageway will be undertaken by J Hopkins Ltd.
