NEW plans for a “dream home” in Bolton’s most expensive street where Gary Neville was set to build a luxury house himself have been revealed.

Designs for a new five-bedroom house on the plot next to Ousel Nest House, off Grange Road in Bromley Cross, have been submitted to Bolton Council.

The first phase of work got underway in May just months before planning permission obtained by the ex-England footballer was due to expire.

A new buyer has now revealed a fresh design for the “state-of-the-art” house.

A spokesman said: “Our client has been working for a number of months to secure the purchase of the site, and they have been liaising closely with their architects to the develop design proposals in line with their specific requirements and aspirations for the property.

“This is very much a ‘dream home’ project for our clients, and they want the finished building to be of the highest quality, and something they can be proud of.

“The intention is to create a modern family dwelling that will incorporate state of the art technology and be as ‘eco-friendly’ as possible whilst being sensitive to its environment and surroundings.

“Our client hopes to secure the approval for the amended house type as soon as possible, and they will then look to continue immediately with the build, in line with the revised plans.”

Mr Neville applied to build a new luxury home on the land in 2016 and was given the go ahead by the planning committee despite council officers recommending refusal for the proposal due to its impact on the green belt.

An artist’s impression of the house proposed by the former Manchester United footballer showed a three-storey home with a loft space and an adjoining outbuilding.

The overall footprint of the substitute dwelling is slightly smaller than the house type originally approved, but its internal floor area would be five square metres larger.

Grange Road was recently revealed to be home to the houses which sold at the highest average prices in Bolton, alongside Overhouses in Turton.

It had three properties sold from 2015 — these came at an average cost of £1,147,000.

In 2010, the former Manchester United star revealed designs for a futuristic underground home on the site, which was likened to the home of children’s TV favourites the Teletubbies.

The former full back turned football pundit previously won permission for his ‘teletubby’ house in Harwood, but never went ahead with the development.

A planning application for the substitute house type on land next to Ousel Nest House is expected to be determined by planning officers the end of July.
