POLICE have issued a plea to the public after litter was left strewn across a McDonald's car park.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Wakefield City and North West Team were patrolling Westgate Retail Park, in Wakefield, when they were greeted with a horrifying scene this morning.
The car park of the Cathedral Retail Park McDonald's was covered in waste, ranging from takeout bags to McNugget Shareboxes.
A spokesperson for the team said: "We ask that if you are going to take the time to queue for your food, make the time to take your rubbish home with you.
"A massive thank you to the staff at McDonald's who made sure all car parks were clean and tidy before they opened today."
This McDonald's location reopened its Drive-Thru yesterday as part of the fast-food chain's first day of a phased reopening process which will see all its 924 Drive-Thru restaurants open their lanes by Thursday, June 4.
Keighley McDonald's was the first store in the Bradford district to reopen its Drive-Thru.
Officers in Wakefield also urged drivers to show courtesy for other motorists who may not be after a Big Mac and fries.
The spokesperson said: "Can we also ask that when joining the queue for any fast food outlet, that you please show consideration for other road users, and not block off junctions and roundabouts."
