RHYL promenade has been illuminated for the frontline staff battling the Coronavirus.

Landmarks including the Pavilion Theatre and the Sky Tower were lit up blue as residents they clapped in appreciation for the emergency services.

The town joined people across Denbighshire and the UK at 8am on Thursday, March 26 celebrating their work from their doorsteps.

Paul Frost, volunteer press officer for Rhyl RNLI said: "I live on Russell Road surrounded by the care community. Even carers joined in with the clapping.

"My wife retired from 43 years as a nurse two years ago, and I have family in the NHS.

"It was a very emotional experience, closely followed by the emergency services on a call. Brings home how we should all people who are on the frontline in these strange times."
