A NEW nightclub is set to open in Bolton town centre following a change of ownership and refurbishment of a previous venue.

The premises were formerly occupied by the Ikonic venue which closed in May 2019.

This is now under new ownership and, after refurbishment work is complete, is soon set to open again as a nightclub under the name of “TRUTH”.

Della Clubs and Bars, who will be operating the venue, told The Bolton News: “The venue will provide an alternative to what is already on offer around the town centre.”

A spokesman for the company said: “We are not trying to reinvent the wheel but are aiming to give people a great night out with great music from a state of the art music system with fantastic lighting and value for money being one of our main aims.”

The previous nightclub at this venue, “Ikonic”, was in operation for less than a year after many licensing issues.

Ikonic was originally opened in September 2018 but only lasted to November of that year before having to temporarily close due to a licensing issue.

The next month a ticketed event had to also be postponed, with organisers again citing “licensing issues”.

These same problems then forced the nightclub to be closed from New Year's Eve 2018 until April of 2019.

The Bolton News then reported that on May 17 the landlords had re-entered the property to take it back, and that they were no longer in contact with Ikonic’s former owner.

The eviction notices that appeared on the doors at the time explained that the lease had come to an end.

However, the owner of TRUTH, Chris Roberts, said his establishment would not be experiencing these problems.

He said: “We are working very closely with the police and council to make sure we fully comply with all licensing laws.

“We have got full licensing and if problems were to arise again things are in place to make sure we don’t break any rules.

“There won’t be any problems.”
