STAFF at Marks & Spencer have made a special donation to the Breast Unit at the Royal Bolton Hospital to help women who have undergone a mastectomy.

They have donated a collection of softee breast forms, which are placed inside bras in the immediate post-operative period.

This is the third time the Bolton town centre M&S branch has made a donation to the Breast Unit – they have previously given a number of post-operative bras, which the hospital said has had a positive impact on women who have not only had a mastectomy but also reconstruction surgery.

Their bra experts are hoping to encourage other M&S stores around the country to follow their lead in contacting their local breast units to donate excess stock for patients in their area.

Annette Trengove, Junior Sister at the Bolton Breast Unit, said the donation was very much appreciated and the team has seen a positive impact on a number of our patients.

Andrea McCann, Unit Manager, said: “Post-operative mastectomy bras are funded from kind donations from patients and their relatives, as well as the staff of the breast unit fundraising. Having these donations from M&S has added to the service we provide and improved patients’ recovery.”
