LANCASHIRE Police's deputy chief constable has paid tribute to a police officer that died in a crash in Cumbria.
The officer, a 47-year-old man, who worked for Cumbria's mobile support group, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on the M6 southbound between junction 44 and 43.
The crash involved one car and the officer was the only person inside it.
DCC Terry Woods, of Lancashire Police, said: "All our thoughts and condolences from Lancashire police to our fallen colleague, his family and his Cumbria police colleagues.
"Devastating news.
"As a close neighbour Lancashire police has already been in contact with Cumbria to offer whatever support is needed.
"Rest in peace."
