AT LEAST four people have been injured in car crashes during bad weather over the weekend as fire crews warned people to take care on the roads.
Early on Sunday morning four men were “badly injured” after the car they were travelling in careered off the road in Egerton and collided with a wall in snow and sleet.
The incident happened at around 3am in Blackburn Road and was attended by the emergency services who gave treatment to the injured driver and passengers.
Blackburn Road was closed throughout much of yesterday while the emergency services dealt with the incident’s aftermath.
It followed another crash in Thicketford Road in Tonge at around 8.30pm on Friday night in which two cars collided during heavy rain.
One of the cars was flung from the road during impact and damaged a telecoms box with nearby residents reporting that their internet and telephone connections were temporarily down.
Following the incidents, James Bracegirdle, a firefighter at Bolton North fire station, said: “It is important that people always drive to the road conditions and take their time in icy and snowy weather.”
