IN a new feature we will be dipping into the wedding albums of St Helens couples who have tied the knot this year and finding out more about the happiest day of their life.

Here is the wedding album and story for Rebecca and Adam who got married in Santorini.

St Helens Star:

Names: Rebecca Bate and Adam Ashton

Ages: Rebecca – 33, Adam – 28

The area of the town you live: Sutton

St Helens Star:

When and how you met: Met in The Venue in town eight and a half years ago, I was out with my friends and Adam was out with his friends. I had planned to go home but got dragged into Venue and ended up meeting Adam and as they say the rest is history.

What you thought of each other when you first met: I knew as soon as I met Adam he was the one for me, it just felt different.

Adam told me that he was 23 and it turns out he was 20, I was 25 but he looked much older than his age and age is only a number to me.

St Helens Star:

Where and when you got engaged: September 30, 2017 in Las Vegas. Adam popped the question in Las Vegas at a restaurant that I wanted to go to for ages.

Adam was so nervous that he proposed as soon as we got into the restaurant.

He had been to Milton's and bought a ring that I had been looking at for months and had hidden it at my mums house for 10 months.

Date and location of the wedding and reception: Dana Villas Santorini Greece - 24.8.19

St Helens Star:

How would you describe your wedding?: Our wedding was everything we have thought and dreamt about times 1,000.

I had put so much planning and effort into it and making it feel personal and special and worried that it would all not work out but it did.

We have had so many comments from guests to say that it was the best wedding they had ever been to.

Santorini is breath taking and we had the picture-perfect wedding, everything that we had worked so hard for worked out.

St Helens Star:

How many guests did you have?: 22 guests attended the wedding.

What did your guests eat?: Guests were served canapes after the wedding and then they sat down for a four-course meal. I have included a picture of the menu.

St Helens Star:

What are your favourite memories of the day?: Favourite memory of the day is walking to see Adam at the end of the aisle, he was so filled with emotion and all I could see was him.

I didn’t even look at any of the guests or the flowers that we had paid for. My only focus was Adam and getting to him.

We also loved having all of our guests with us for at least a week, some stayed longer, and it was amazing to have so many of our loved ones with us and celebrating our wedding for longer than the traditional day.

The speeches were another highlight of the day, my mum did a lovely speech even though she was so nervous.

My dad passed away when I was 15, so my mum stepped up and walked me down the aisle and did a speech.

Adam did a touching speech as did Lea, Adam's brother who was best man.

St Helens Star:

Did you go on a honeymoon? If so where?: Due to us getting married abroad we were limited to holidays at work, so we have decided to postpone our honeymoon to next year (2020).

I booked for Adam as a wedding present to go back to Las Vegas and we have also booked to go on a Med Cruise which goes back to Santorini.

We are really milking the whole wedding and honeymoon.

St Helens Star:

Please tell us a little bit about the things you have in common/why you love each other and why you wanted to get married: Adam and I have been together for eight and a half years and have lived together for three and a half so we know each other inside out.

I have always wanted a traditional family unit as that is what I was brought up with.

We both enjoy travelling and going out for meals which is now back on the cards as we had to stop going out as much to enable us to save up for our big day.

St Helens Star:

Is there anything else you would like to share with us about your day or your relationship?: We have just got our first puppy together – Jackson.

What was the name of your photographer?: Ben Wyatt Photography

Would you like to tell us about your wedding?

If you're a St Helens couple who got married in 2019 we would love to hear from you.
