To begin this week I'd like to say a huge thank you to Danny Brocklehurst for last week's interview.

It has been one of the most popular interviews I have done and I'm really glad the community enjoyed reading it.

So, we have reached December and the count down to Christmas has begun.

All the Christmas lights have now been switched on in each part of the borough and Trafford is filled with Christmas themed events such as the Friends of Davyhulme Park's Christmas Fair that I recently attended.

The Friends of Davyhulme Park was formed in September 2009 by three local mums who wanted to join a group to help improve their local park and at the same time make new friends and also help to promote a real sense of community.

As there was no friends group for Davyhulme Park they got together to create one.

The Christmas Fair was really well attended, despite the cold, frosty morning and was filled with families all enjoying the stalls and having a great time.

As a Davyhulme man, born and bred, I think it's fantastic to see one of our local parks being improved through the groups efforts in conservation, environmental and restoration projects.

They are also promoting sport, health and recreational activities and therefore the wellbeing of local residents of all ages.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Christmas Fair and wish the Friends of Davyhulme Park all the very best.

If you would like to get involved with the group you can email them at fodp@hotmail.co.uk

Whilst Christmas shopping in Altrincham at the weekend I called in to see Jason at Bier Cell.

Bier Cell is the smallest bar in Altrincham but you're always guaranteed to get the biggest and warmest of welcomes.

If you're passing, call in and see Jason and enjoy a drink in his tiny bar. It really warmed me up on such a cold day.

To finish this week, back to Davyhulme Park, on Sunday the 8th of December there will be an Urmston 'Elf Walk', between 11am and 1pm. The 'Elf Walk' will be a gentle walk around the park and is suitable for all abilities.

All funds raised on the day will be going to the Trafford Alzheimer’s Society.

The event starts at Davyhulme Park Bowling Club and Kate Green MP and the Mayor of Trafford Cllr. Rob Chilton will be in attendance.

There will be hot chocolate, mince pies, a treasure hunt and lots of Christmas songs!

Don't forget your Elf hats!

So, there's lots going on in Trafford in the run up to Christmas and I hope you all have a lovely start to the Christmas season. See you next week!
