A MAN who has already admitted voyeurism and possessing child pornography could face further charges, a court has been told.

Preston Crown Court heard William David Smith pleaded guilty to two charges of voyeurism and two of attempted voyeurism, which relate to offences committed at Darwen Leisure Centre on May 17.

Blackburn magistrates heard one of the attempted voyeurism offences related to the filming of a 15-year-old girl as she got changed after swimming.

Blackburn magistrates heard when police inspected the phone William David Smith was using they discovered under the cubicle footage of another 21 women and girls.

And the court was told his bright blue phone had been wrapped in black tape to make it less noticeable as he carried out his covert activities.

After examining devices attributed to 31-year-old Smith, of Redearth Road, Darwen, officers found six indecent images of children, which he has pleaded guilty to making.

Prosecuting at Preston Crown Court, Jon Close said police still need to interview Smith over images allegedly filmed at leisure centres, sunbeds and toilets.

Judge Beverley Lunt closed the court to hear about the progress of a police investigation into offences which Mr Close said “carry a custodial sentence of particular significance”.

The case was adjourned until December 3 when Smith will find out if he will face any further charges.

Defending, Richard Prew said: “There is not a lot to say. The defendant has quite a lot of insight into what is going on. He has brought it on himself.

“He hasn’t brought the delay on himself. He is somewhat disappointed that we are no further in resolving this case than we were two months ago.”

Smith, who wore a grey suit in the dock, was remanded in custody.
