A DRIVER abandoned a car and ran away from police, before returning and failing a drug test.
Police have said traffic officers were patrolling Little Hulton when a black Volkswagen Golf passed their patrol car in Parkway.
The driver reportedly pulled up on nearby Leavale Close and fled the car along with his three passengers.
At 2.18pm on Tuesday, GMP Traffic tweeted: "Another uninsured vehicle off to the scrap yard.
"This VW Golf passed #XT51 in Little Hulton just off Parkway.
"The driver immediately abandoned the car and along with his three friends ran for the hills."
Police were in the process of seizing the car, when the driver returned.
After failing a drugs test, he was arrested.
Traffic Officers tweeted again at 3.20pm to update their followers of the developments.
They wrote: "Well it turns out the driver was insured.
"He reappeared a short time later hoping #XT51 wouldn't recognise him.
"He confessed to being the driver.
"Recovery cancelled however he failed a drug test and was arrested."
