HUNDREDS of people flooded the town centre to celebrate the top entertainment event Chorley Live.

There was be a huge buzz of excitement in Chorley town centre as 35 venues play host to a variety of local artists and performers with the full list of over 280 appearances.

The event, brought together people of all ages, including children, making their way into the town centre, has something for everyone and is this year being run in partnership with Derian House Children’s Hospice.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, said: “It was another fantastic event with thousands of people enjoying a night out in Chorley. Not only that it provides a boost to the local economy and supports our local businesses. I’d like to thank everyone who helped to make the event happen from the venues and acts through to the volunteers and Creative Network which runs the event with us.”

Mick Croskery, Community Fundraiser at Derian House Children’s Hospice, said: “Chorley Live was amazing! It was a pleasure to work with Chorley Council so closely over the last few months in the build up to the event.

"The weekend itself was a great success for us and the exposure Chorley Live brought to Derian House has been fantastic.

"Turning our flagship Chorley store into a gin bar brought hundreds of customers through our doors and hopefully they will continue to support us in the future.

"I’m sure I can speak on behalf of all of our children and families when I thank everyone who supported Derian House over the weekend.”

This year there were a number of new venues including the Derian House outdoor stage on Fazakerley Street.

The event has grown dramatically over the last few years and this year there was more capacity with a variety of venues suitable for people of all ages. from young children to the older generation, who want a weekend of live entertainment.

There was a dementia-friendly venue with the new Primrose Gardens opening its doors to the public just before the residents start to move in.
