A number of sheds, garages and vehicles have been broken into in overnight thefts.

The incidents took place overnight from Monday September 30 into Tuesday October 1 on The Hawthorns in Eccleston.

Several properties were targeted by opportunist thieves with goods and valuables stolen.

A spokesperson for the police said: "The properties were mainly insecure but entry was forcibly gained also and goods within were stolen.

"We appeal for anyone in the local area who may have seen or heard something in the early hours of the morning.

"Additionally, we request that households with CCTV systems could review their footage and contact us using the details below.

"It is highly likely that the offender(s) are captured within your recordings."

The local Neighbourhood Policing Team and Immediate Response Teams are continuing to patrol the area and are asking that residents take care to ensure their properties are locked and secure in order to deter would-be thieves.
