Chorley Amateur Dramatic & Operatic Society (CADOS) are marking the 80th Birthday of one of Britain’s most popular playwrights, Alan Ayckbourn, with a production of one of his most dazzling and provocative comedies.

The play Woman In Mind revolves around Susan as she goes deeper and deeper into a fantasy world she has created for herself.

In her normal life, she is a vicar’s wife starved of affection by a boring husband and their estranged son. But after being knocked unconscious by a rake in the garden she finds herself living an idyllic life.

Free to wander the vast lands of her stately home, and spend time with her perfect husband and children she spends more and more time in the imaginary world.

But gradually the walls break down and she loses control over what is fantasy and what is reality. The line between fantasy and reality starts to blur… with some surprising results.

A Lewis Carroll-style story for adults, this is uniquely Ayckbourn: with playful use of language, compelling dialogue, much hilarity, and a remarkable exploration of character.

The play is directed by David Reid, an award-winner for his portrayals of Sherlock Holmes and Alan Turing at Chorley Little Theatre, with Cassandra Moon as Susan.

The show runs from Monday 14th to Saturday 19th October at 7.30pm every night at Chorley Little Theatre. Visit www.chorleytheatre.com for details.

CADOS recently announced their 2020 season, which opens with The Formby Show in February and includes Blackadder and Legally Blonde - The Musical.

Tickets for those shows, along with comedy from the likes of Dom Joly and Arabella Weir, are on sale now.

The venue on Dole Lane is funded entirely by ticket and bar sales so if anyone would like to donate to help them with building work, please contact them via www.chorleytheatre.com.
