A STOLEN sports car believed to be worth in the region of £25,000 was recovered after a police chase.

Officers from Chorley saw the driver and a passenger of a Peugeot 3008GTI were acting suspiciously on Pall Mall at 2.15pm on Monday afternoon.

PC Chris O’Lone said: “We attempted to stop the vehicle which resulted in a short pursuit across Chorley.

“It was later found abandoned on The Cedars on Lower Burgh Way.

“The two offenders have left the car and ran into Yarrow Valley Country Park.

“When we looked in the boot of the car there were three false registration plates.

“The car had been stolen from a hotel in Blackpool last month on August 24.

“We just saw them acting suspiciously so it was pro-active police and managed to try to find out the circumstances of the car being stolen.

“It appears the cars may have been involved in organised crime across the area and acting suspiciously.

“It was good to take this vehicle off the streets which is believed to have been used by criminals and we have managed to re-unite it with their rightful owners.”
