WARRINGTON'S first open air boxing match takes place at Golden Square this Saturday – and the proceeds are going to charity.
There will be 10 bouts of boxing in the Old Fish Market from 6.30pm and judges include Warrington Wolves players Ben Westwood and Blake Austin.
HC Promotions teamed up with Golden Square for the event to support suicide prevention charity, Papyrus.
Boxers will even enter the ring to their own walk-on music, lasers, lighting effects and smoke machines.
After the boxing there will also be a party for fighters and spectators to celebrate the money raised alongside a performance by Warrington girl band Lipi4.
Chris Hodgkinson, owner of HC Promotions Ltd, said: “To create what promises to be another fantastic showpiece event for the great town of Warrington gives me a real buzz and to try and raise money for such a worthy cause will be incredible.
“If putting on this event can save just one person from suicide then it has all been worth it."
Hazel Russell, head of fundraising at Papyrus, added: “Suicide is the biggest killer of under 35s in the UK and we believe that many suicides are preventable.
“Funds raised from this event will help us support many more young people who are struggling."
