A MAN has been left in a 'life-threatening condition' after his car flipped onto its bonnet during a crash.

Police have confirmed that the man - believed to be in his 30s - suffered 'very serious injuries' to his head when the silver Chevrolet Spark he was driving collided with a black Audi SQ5 at 2pm yesterday (Sunday).

Officers were joined by paramedics and firefighters after they received a call about the crash on New Lane, Breightmet.

The man was initially thought to have been trapped in his vehicle, but when fire crews arrived he was able to escape on his own.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

PC Karl Horner, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The driver of the Chevrolet Spark has very serious injuries and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, saw either of the two vehicles before the incident or has dash-cam footage which may help our enquiries to get in touch.”

The road was closed for much of the afternoon while police investigated the incident.
