ANTI petrol heads get the chance to discover the delights of zero-emissions driving in Oldham tomorrow (Saturday, September 14).

Alongside other events across Greater Manchester, the Octopus Electric Vehicle and Bike Experience takes place at Parliament Square.

Visitors can sample a range of electric vehicles, such as the Nissan LEAF, BMW i3, Jaguar IPACE and Tesla, as well as e-bikes and e-cargo bikes.

Experienced Octopus electric vehicle specialists will be on hand to answer any questions about the right machine for each person’s lifestyle, in an event organised with Transport for Greater Manchester.

Octopus Electric Vehicles is the first company to offer a complete solution for electric vehicles – from sourcing and leasing the vehicle, to ensuring you’re installed with the latest smart charging solution and, through Octopus Energy, switched to a green energy tariff designed specifically for EV drivers.

Anna Collins, head of sustainable journeys at TfGM, said: “Greater Manchester’s bold ambition is to be carbon-neutral by 2038, 12 years ahead of the Government’s own target. Encouraging a shift away from petrol and diesel vehicles will play a key role and Greater Manchester is leading the way in encouraging the move towards lower emission vehicles and sustainable travel, including cycling and walking

“With hundreds of electric vehicle charge points already installed and even more planned next year, Greater Manchester is getting ready for the shift to electric vehicles, alongside investment in public transport, cycling and walking. I’d encourage anyone with an interest to come along to an event and see hands-on how an electric vehicle or e-Bike could work for them.”
