QUEENS Park was bursting with colour as hundreds of people turned out to raise money for a good local cause.

The joy-filled Bolton Bubble Rush returned yesterday, with the funds from the 5k fun run going towards Bolton Hospice, who provide care for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Participants of all ages set off at midday, walking, dancing, toddling and running through a sea of foam and mass of coloured bubbles.

It was the fourth annual event of its kind to be held in Bolton, which saw children and adults alike covered head to toe in bubbles.

The Bubble Rush is not a race and is not timed – in fact there is no pressure to run — with the only rule being that people have fun.

This year's cohort adorned themselves with neon clothing, glow sticks, goggles, colourful wigs and tutu skirts for the occasion.

There was a group warm up at 11.30am, which got participants into the feel-good spirit of the event, before the race began at midday.

People from all corners of Bolton and the North West were covered in the bright bubbles pumped from cannons as they made their way around the course.

Taking on two loops of the route, runners were doused in colour from four colour stations: pink, blue, green and yellow; which created three feet high walls of foam for competitors to run through, tie-dying their Bubble Rush event t-shirts.
