A COLLABORATION of churches across Bury have teamed up to provide a free debt help service.
A total of 15 churches, working as Bury Churches Together, are offering the support in conjunction with the national charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP).
Residents in Bury, Whitefield, Prestwich, Unsworth and Radcliffe who are affected by debt are able to access the help.
Gordon Clark, Bury CAP debt centre manager, said: "This support is available for people who are affected by debt, often as a consequence of a life crisis such as bereavement, losing a job, or ill health.
"The charity has a new helpline number for local people in these areas needing help.
"People are asked to initially call the helpline, where they can explain their situation in confidence to a sympathetic and understanding team member, who will be able to explain the service, answer any questions, and book an appointment.
"The service is available to local people and families, regardless of their age, gender, faith or background, and aims to help people to put their debt nightmares behind them and start a new life."
Anyone seeking debt advice should call the helpline on 01274 761911.
