AN 84-YEAR-OLD man has died after a collision with a car in Farnworth.
Emergency services were called to the incident in Market Street at the junction with Church Street on Thursday afternoon.
A black Toyota Corolla had collided with the man, who suffered serious injuries.
The pedestrian was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition and has since died.
The driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made.
Police say their enquiries are ongoing.
Officers who are investigating the incident have issued an appeal for witnesses to the crash, which occurred shortly after 1.45pm.
Police Constable John Cavanagh, of Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this very difficult time.
“Our investigators have carried out a detailed examination of the scene, and we are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
“I would urge anyone who saw the car or the man in the moments leading up to the collision, or anyone with dashcam footage, to please get in touch with us as soon as possible."
