A LONG-RUNNING bridge club is holding an open day to give residents the chance to try their hand at the game.

More than 300 members play bridge at the Bury Athenaeum Bridge Club in Moss Street, which is affiliated to the English Bridge Union.

Members of the public are invited to see the club, view the teaching room and watch the game in action during an open day on Saturday, September 14, 10.30am-2.30pm. Club members will also be on hand to answer any questions, and light refreshments will be available.

Beginner lessons will also begin later this month, for anyone wanting to take up bridge as a new hobby. These sessions will start on Monday, September 23, with classes taking place on Mondays between 7-9.30pm and Wednesdays between 10am-12.30pm, thereafter.

There will be two terms of 12 weekly lessons, concluding on March 30, 2020. All are welcome to attend, whether new to the game, or returning to refresh their bridge play. The first two taster lessons will be free.
