A CHRISTIAN charity has completed its five-week 'Summer Lunchbox' scheme to feed youngsters attending a borough's children's centres over the school holiday.
Kingdom Outreach made and delivered 15,000 packed meals across Blackburn with Darwen.
Self-funded through cash and food donations the scheme, based at Wesley Hall, has just completed its third year of operation.
Volunteer organiser Tommy Temperley said: "We have see our dedicated volunteers return year after year to make the lunches from 8am at Wesley Hall.
" Its a tremendous operation planned with precision and thought and our volunteers range from age six to 84.
"Holiday hunger is a national issue which has been brought on by present and previous governments and its rather shameful a grassroots organisation has to take the led on ensuring children don't go hungry. Kingdom Outreach also gives out Christmas hampers to underprivileged families."
