THIS photograph shows passengers on a canal cruise in 1942.

It was organised by cable works company BICC for its Leigh workers and their families as part of its “Holidays at Home” programme.

A canal barge was temporarily converted for cruising for the trip.

The image shows that the barge is packed out with families queued up on the path.

Do you have an old picture related to BICC, and if so, what memories do you have of your time working there?

Or do you have another photograph that you would like to share with us that you think would fit well on this page?

If you do, please email your picture to newsdesk@leighjournal.co.uk with your name, what the image shows and what year it was taken.

We will consider using photographs taken in Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley and surrounding areas from a different era.
