IT is the time of year when we enjoy the weather and visit lots of fairs and carnivals.
So it prompted us to take a trip down memory lane to look back on the history of events including Royal Lancashire and East Lancashire shows.
These photographs should stir up some happy memories for our readers with lots of the different activities featured.
They include children enjoying old tractors, owl flying, modelling new hats and morris dancing.
Then in 1991, there is a shot of senior steward David Kay, from Osbaldeston, centre left, presents Geoff Robison and his shire horse Metheringham Isobel with his class rosette, watches by show judge Reg Coward, left, and steward Sue Ashcroft.
The horse was going onto the Shire Horse of the Year at Wembley b
One of the interesting shots is of Richard Wood, whose family were from Darwen and his sister Grace after he picked up the Junior Shepherd award at the Royal Lancashire Show.
Then another photograph shows one of the competitors taking on the fences in the show ring in front of hundreds of spectators in 1991.
There are more photographs online in a gallery on our website.
