ROD Stewart's concert at the University of Bolton Stadium is set to go ahead after concerns were raised over the safety of attendees.

The gig, set to take place on Friday, June 14, had been thrown into doubt after Bolton Wanderers entered administration early last month.

But, a meeting of the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) held on Monday evening found that the event would be able to continue.

A spokesman for promoters Cuffe & Taylor said: “The staff at Bolton Wanderers Football Club have been incredibly helpful and we thank them for their assistance in making this event happen.

“The massive UK leg of the Rod Stewart tour began last week and we cannot wait to bring this show to the University of Bolton Stadium for what will be a fantastic night of live music with an international rock legend.”
