BOSSES at new Blackburn nightclub Code are looking to give the nightlife scene in the town a huge boost when they open tonight.

The club will open at the former Switch site in St Peters Street, at 11pm.

Co-owner Jason Fubar was excited about finally getting the chance to open their doors.

He said: “We have got to the stage where we are ready to open with Mark Freejack who is a bit of a local legend on Rock FM with his floor-fillers.

“We will be having a selection of 1990s, 2000s and other dance anthems from today on Friday night.

“We are excited as there is not a nightclub as such in Blackburn and there was a great support network which has left and gone to Darwen but we hope to buck the trend and bring some of them back.

“Kano from the Ministry of Sound will be there on Saturday so we have got three of the biggest DJs in the NW coming to lay their roots in Blackburn.

“I used to work at Peppermint Place and we hope to revive the nightclub scene here.”

Earlier this month, the Lancashire Telegraph revealed nightclubs supremo Freddie Marshall and Jason Fubar, who have had venues from Lanzarote to Lancashire, were relaunching the Blackburn club.

Mr Marshall is investing £100,000 in a makeover for the site. The owners have installed a new sound and light system.

Switch closed in October blaming a ‘steady decrease in customer numbers which therefore incurred significant losses’.
