VETERAN council watcher Eddie Farn has been praised for his frequent attempts to stir the borough council into action.

Mr Farn speaks at almost every public session of the borough council – often questioning policies on litter or seafront repairs, cycle paths, or simply calling for the council to have some pride in Weymouth, ideally all of Weymouth, not just the seafront.

At the last borough council meeting on Thursday evening he was back again – once more calling for the litter bin on Westham Bridge to be replaced, something which he has spoken about for a year, or more.

“I was told the bin would be replaced but now, it seems, there has been a change of mind and they are claiming there is not enough litter to justify it...who is going to get some pride in this town? Unless it's on the Commercial Road side nothing's going to happen.” he said.

“This might be the last meeting but it's not the last you'll see of me,” added Mr Farn as he completed his allocated three minutes during the public session of the meeting.

Cllr Kate Wheller praised Mr Farn for his determination to improve things: “He has kept us on our toes..I would make a plea to all residents to get involved with the new council. We can't be everywhere and it does help us,” she said.
