A MAN who assaulted a police officer has been fined £162 by Manchester magistrates.

Daniel Hillen, aged 25, of Jackson Fold Farm, Pilsworth Road, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence in Bury on August 12.

The court also ordered Hillen to participate in rehabilitation activities for 15 days, pay £335 in costs and charges and £150 in compensation to his victim.

nA 15-year-old boy who caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to six vehicles in Bury on May 19 last year has been referred to the youth offending team for six months by Manchester magistrates.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to committing the offences and was also ordered to pay a total of £1,000 in compensation to his victims.

nA THIEF who stole scaffolding equipment, worth £30, from HSS Hire Ltd on September 20 last year has been fined £126 by Manchester magistrates.

Callum Hamilton, aged 20, of Chesham Crescent, Bury, denied committing the offence but was found guilty.

He was also ordered to pay £130 in costs and charges.

nMAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for 12 months after he admitted assaulting a woman on January 10.

Jonathan Howard, aged 42, of Kersal Close, Prestwich, pleaded guilty and was also ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

nA WOMAN who pleaded guilty to assaulting a man in Bury on November 11 has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for six months by Manchester magistrates.

The court heard that Natasha Walker, aged 27, of no fixed address, has mental health issues.

nA SHOPLIFTER who stole a jacket worth £60 from Loofe's menswear in The Millgate centre on December 20 has been ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

Nathan Duckworth, aged 29, of Whitefield Road, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence. Manchester magistrates told him he must also pay £60 in compensation plus £50 towards prosecution costs.

nA MOTORIST who refused to give a blood sample to police has been banned from driving for 18 months by Manchester magistrates.

Anthony Shuker, aged 56, of Raymond Avenue, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and to driving an Audi A1 on Wash Lane, Bury, on New Year's Day, without care and attention.

Shuker was sentenced to wear an electronic tag for nine weeks and be subject to a 7pm to 5am curfew. He must also pay £485 in costs and charges.

nA WOMAN has been ordered to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities after she admitted assaulting a man on October 29. Somia Saleem, aged 33, of Walmersley Road, Bury, was also fined £50 and ordered to pay £285 in costs.
