A CHORLEY chippy has been nominated for an award in a competition which is dubbed the Oscars of the fish and chip industry.

Nana Jan’s in Buckshaw Village has only been open since April but it is in the running for the ‘marketing innovation’ gong in the National Fish and Chip awards in January.

Janet Colcough, founder and owner, said: “To be nominated for an award is great.

“We are simply thrilled to be shortlisted for this very prestigious category.

“We launched Nana Jan’s in April this year and to be shortlisted within the first year of trade is impressive in its own right.

“The management and staff in the shop are delighted to see all their hard work pay off with this ultimate recognition from industry leaders and experts.

“We hope to return to Buckshaw in late January as winners.

“This is great news not just for the business but for Buckshaw Village to have an award-winning shop in the community too. We trust that the local residents and businesses continue to support us,” Janet said.

The takeaway is offering a raffle to people who have spent £10 and they could win £20 worth of food every week for a year.

The draw will be made on December 31 with the two winning families receiving 52 £20 vouchers to be spent weekly instore or online for 2019.

Janet added: “ Buckshaw Village is a very special place with a real sense of community and we are thrilled to be part of it.

“We would like to support the local residents and give something back so we have decided that a raffle would be a good way of doing exactly that.

“We are also mindful of the fact the customers like to use us in different ways - some people like to come to the shop while others like our delivery service, so we wanted to make sure that both sets of customers got a chance to win a prize, so we decided to offer one to two families.

“We are also giving away a £50 voucher for people who like and share our promotion on Facebook.”
