A CHORLEY schoolboy has a role in a Christmas TV advertisement.

Bishop Rawstorne pupil and deputy head boy Joe Harrison is part of Cadbury’s festive advert, which features ‘Secret Santa’ gifting.

The ad shows a child acting as a Secret Santa for his family and Joe is one of the recipients of a bar of chocolate.

His mother, Jane, said: “Joe has been acting since the age of three.

“He goes to the Youth Theatre and the Cartwright Higgins casting agency on Friday nights.

“He goes to Cados on Saturday nights, too, so it is part of his life.

“Through the casting agency we got a call to go for an interview.

“He was in five minutes and then he get called back and was told he was successful.

“I am absolutely ecstatic for

him and it is great to have that credited on his show-reel of performances.

“It is a big thing for him and he was treated like royalty for the two days of filming as it was an all-expenses-paid trip. He was picked up in a limousine.

“He has always liked the camera and would like to appear on film and TV. But he is also looking at public service such as the police and wants to keep his feet on the ground.”

The 16-year-old has been a background actor on TV’s Peaky Blinders and the children’s programme So Awkward.

Jane added: “He has had so many knockbacks and he knows how difficult it is to get roles.

“It is really cut-throat business but it was great that the casting agent had seen enough in just

five minutes to call him back.

“We had hardly taken our

coats off when they said it was done.

“We are really proud of him.”
