SEAN Dyche was surprised to hear that the Clarets were 33/1 to win against Manchester City at the Etihad today.

Burnley are 14/1 just to claim a point against the champions while a 7-0 win for City is the same price as any Clarets victory.

When he was told about the 33/1 on offer for a Burnley win, Dyche said: "Really? I didn’t know that.

"The thing about the Premier League with the vast riches of some of these clubs is that you’re going to get odds like that.

"We all know the gap now, the gap in the finances is astronomical and usually that means a club can buy the best players.

"But odds don’t win a football match."

The Clarets are resuming domestic action after the latest international break, and Dyche believes the breaks have come at a good time for his side so far this season.

"I think they have done this season for different reasons, with the game schedule and the injuries. Normally you can never decide if you need it or not, I’ve found, but this season we definitely do," he added.

"The players have played a lot of football, with the injuries they’ve played even more, Jeff Hendrick has played a lot of football and internationals as well.

"Even those guys when we can we’ve tried our best to give them the extra day off here and there, so the international breaks have been good for us this season."
