TRIBUTES have been paid to a dedicated Chorley FC fan of almost 70 years.

Bob Blake, a lifelong supporter, 81-year-old followed the club through thick and thin since a child - going to matches both home and away with his mother and father, including the 1986 FA Cup matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Bob’s daughter Gill paid tribute to her dad.

She said: “Dad absolutely loved watching Chorley.

“I’ll always remember he used to wave his stick in the air and shout at the referee.

“He followed the club as a child with his mum and dad and made so many nice friends over the years.

“We’ll still be coming to matches as a family and were at the match on Boxing Day against Southport.”

Bob’s wife Jean also added: “The FA Cup matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers stand out and his favourite players over the years were Graham Barrow and Paddy Waddington.”

On the passing of Bob, Commercial Manager Josh Vosper said: “Bob was a popular figure at the club and will be sorely missed.

“I’m sure we’ll all have our own memories, but he was a friendly face and always stopped for a chat. A stalwart along with Jean and we send them all our love at this sad time.”

A minute’s applause was held for Bob prior to kick off on Boxing Day against Southport and everyone at Chorley FC would like to pass on their condolences to Bob’s family.

Meanwhile, Chorley FC have availability in the 1883 Lounge from the start of 2018 for some games. against Harrogate Town (January 6), Kidderminster Harriers (January 9) and North Ferriby United (January 27).
