TRAMPOLINE gymnasts are jumping for joy after qualifying for the next round of the regional team finals.

Eight gymnasts from Springfield Park Bouncers Trampoline Club, Coppull, had been chosen to represent the North West team at the trampoline and tumbling regional team final at Birmingham's Barclaycard Arena.

One of the gymnasts, Emma Wilson, won a silver medal and is now ranked second in the country for her level and age.

Hannah Blundell won a bronze medal and is ranked third in the country. Amy Gee came fifth place.

Hazel Chadwick, Lily Wilson and Kiera Fisher all came seventh for their ages and levels.

Despite their best efforts two out of the eight gymnasts, Euan Howie and Larissa Blyth, narrowly missed qualifying for the next round.

Wendy Chadwick, head coach of Springfield Park Trampoline Club, said: "Last year we had three who qualified. This year we have gone on even stronger.

"Eight gymnasts qualified for the North West team. To get that many into an individual team final, you can't ask for much more."

Joanne Lydon, 48, Bolton Road, Adlington, who's daughter and son both train at Springfield Park Club, said: "It looks positive for the six who are going.

"All the gymnasts will do the best they can and no doubt will work their hardest in the upcoming event."

Hannah, Emma, Amy, Hazel, Lily and Kiera have all progressed to the next stage and will compete in the NDP finals due to take place on July 7 in Telford.
