AN enterprising pair hope to build a name for themselves after showing their house renovation skills on national TV.

Property developer Oliver Piotrowski and quantity surveyor Chris Shaw were filmed doing up a terrace house for Channel 4’s Beat My Build.

A film crew followed the childhood friends from Blackburn for five months after they were pitted against a pair with a South Shields flat.

Oliver, who owns Pinnacle Property Finders, said they jumped at the chance to get involved when the production team approached them at an auction in August 2012.

The 20-episode series, presented by Amanda Lamb and Laura Hamilton, shows teams from across the UK going head-to-head in a bid to make the biggest profit and win a £5,000 prize.

Oliver, 24, has five projects under his belt.

The Lomand Gardens resident said: “I did an HND in construction at Blackburn College when I was 19 so I had relevant skills. We stripped the house, plastered and rewired it then decided to redesign it in a modern style.

“It was a great experience.”

Chris, 25, who lives in Coverdale Drive, took on the project shortly after he returned from a year in Australia.

He said: “It was the first house I’d renovated and I learnt such a lot from both Oliver and by being on the programme.

“While I’m sticking to a career in quantity surveying now it may well be something that I come back to in the future.”

The episode, showing the friends working on a house in Gorton, Manchester, will be aired next Thursday, November 21 at 11am.
