THE first UK tour of the Broadway and West End sensation, Waitress, is coming to Manchester towards the end of the year.

Waitress is based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelley with music and lyrics penned by Grammy award-winning, singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles.

The musical stage version will be at the Opera House from November 30 to December 5 with casting yet to be announced.

Directed by Tony-award winner Diane Paulus, Waitress has garnered multiple awards and nominations in both America and the UK, receiving acclaim from both audiences and critics alike.

The show opened on Broadway in April 2016 and ran until January 2020. It hit the West End in March 2019 and it also currently on a North American tour, and is set to open in Australia, Holland and Japan.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage.

A baking contest and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness. But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. Tickets are on sale next Friday. Visit waitress themusical.co.uk/tour
